If you are seeking alternatives that can boost the effectiveness of addiction treatment, consider DHEA as part of the residential treatment program at Retorno.
The promising results in treating addiction are often linked to the integration of pharmacology and psychology.
With this in mind, Retorno implemented a complementary course of treatment, supervised by the Israel Ministry of Health and Yehuda Abarbanel Mental Health Center. Our resident patients were given DHEA, or dehydroepiandrosterone, as a dietary supplement every day for 3 months. The result? Approximately 30% improvement in recovery rates. At Retorno, DHEA is part of a holistic course of treatment that gives our clients a real chance to reset their life and achieve sustainable, long-term recovery from addiction.
The most encouraging outcomes I have experienced are the result of our integration of the steroidal pro-hormone DHEA dietary supplement as a component of our holistic treatment program.
– Retorno founder and CEO, Rabbi Eitan Eckstein
In a double-blind, placebo-controlled study in adult polydrug users, the follow-up conducted 16 months after the completion of rehab, revealed that relapse rates of DHEA-treated subjects were only 12% (compared to 38% relapse in the control group). No adverse symptoms were found. (Journal of Clinical Biology1)
Based on these positive outcomes and recent studies², Retorno developed a program to leverage the benefits of DHEA for recovering addicts. The program uses a novel algorithm, which takes into account personal data and key physical and psychological parameters of each patient to calculate the optimal dose of DHEA and length of treatment. Although DHEA is available over-the-counter in many pharmacies, it is crucial to know what dose to take and for what duration, otherwise, DHEA could have the opposite effect. By taking the personal profile of each individual, our medical caregivers can monitor progress, manage treatment, and even predict the length of treatment needed for each patient and the probability of relapse.
Retorno partners with DHEA Horizon, an innovative program that uses DHEA dietary supplements to help addicts maintain long-term recovery. Staff members provide medical accompaniment and guidance, together with novel software, creating a higher likelihood of lasting, sustainable recovery. DHEA Horizon can make a lasting difference in the life of recovering addict.
