More Than Abstinence

Treating the person—not only the addiction.

Addiction often begins as an attempt to cope with emotional pain, trauma, loneliness, anxiety, depression or shame.

Over time, what began as a way of coping can become a destructive pattern affecting every area of life. That is why treatment at Retorno goes beyond helping someone stop using.

Participants work to understand what led to the addiction, recognize the patterns keeping them stuck, and develop healthier ways to manage emotions, relationships and everyday life.

For Families

Addiction affects the whole family. Recovery needs a healthier system.

Families may experience fear, anger, confusion, guilt and exhaustion. Attempts to protect a loved one can sometimes unintentionally allow the addiction to continue.

Family involvement is therefore an important part of treatment. It is handled according to the participant’s needs, treatment stage and clinical plan.
