When I was born my lungs were not working properly. The doctors did not expect me to live, but after two months I left the hospital. I was a miracle.
My upbringing was in religious home with lots of love. I went to the best yeshivas, but when I was eighteen I went through a trauma that changed my life. I began smoking weed and drinking. Slowly, I lost my religion. I went to work and found myself a star trader controlling millions of dollars at a New York based private equity firm.
The drugs became heavier with my new lifestyle. I moved out of my apartment in the city to a crack house in Washington Heights. Shortly after, I left my job and began shooting heroin. Eventually, I checked myself into a rehab center in West Palm Beach, Florida and began the long and arduous journey of recovery.
After forty five days clean, I overdosed and was found close to death. This brought me to Israel were I finished a long term rehab at Retorno’s International Jewish Center for Addictions. Today I am clean and beginning to get my life back. I am thankful to God, my family, friends and Retorno.
