Have you ever struggled with food? Have you ever felt defeated after so many failed attempts to control your eating and weight?
MIFGASHIM has a solution that works.
At MIFGASHIM, we help you learn to deal with your unhealthy relationship with food and stop eating compulsively. Compulsive overeating is a problem that is physical, emotional and spiritual in nature. Therefore, our program incorporates all of these aspects.
What is Compulsive Eating?
An individual suffering from compulsive eating often engages in episodes of uncontrolled eating during which he or she may feel frenzied or out of control, often consuming food past the point of being full. A person who engages in binge eating may eat until uncomfortable or sick and engage in behaviors such as hiding secret stashes of food, grazing and picking all day. A compulsive eater may also eat when he or she feels stressed, overwhelmed, or to self-medicate in order to not feel any emotional pain that he/she may be experiencing. Very often compulsive eating results in an individual expressing disgust at one’s eating, body or appearance.
The compulsive use of food can prompt secrecy and shame. A person addicted to food may hide the evidence of a binge, eat alone, and feel guilty after eating, which leads to more compulsive eating.
The program at MIFGASHIM is based on the well-known 12 Step model that offers a new way of life, enabling the compulsive overeater to live without the need for excess food. Our program offers guidance to help clients learn how to eat better, reduce food intake, and socially support others in the program. Without a change in coping skills and lifestyle habits, many individuals struggling with compulsive overeating are likely to make frequent attempts to quit without success.
Going beyond standard weekly meetings, MIFGASHIM treats the whole person, not just the addiction. MIFGASHIM provides more support, more hands-on-tools, more containing. It is a comprehensive program that directly deals with the core roots of addiction as well as an all-inclusive holding environment. The program is facilitated by a clinical therapist whom holds a MSW and CASAC and has many years of experience in the field of addiction.
